The mind holds onto obstacles that obscure the direct experience of our true nature as infinite radiant awareness suffused with wisdom, compassion, equanimity and rapturous love! What some would call the Divine Within, or one's Buddha nature, or Christ Consciousness. These obscurations are called poisons, defilements, afflictions, and kleshas in Sanskrit. The kleshas are described in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, in Tibetan Buddhist texts, and in the Shiva Sutras. They bind one's awareness to a concrete, yet illusory, sense of limited self - the ego. For a seeker, a yogi, a bodhisattva, these kleshas must be dissolved, transformed into their wisdom essence. One uses practices as antidotes to these obscurations, like the delusion of being just the little mind/body self, or attraction and aversion - these are some of the kleshas that bind and afflict our awareness, contracting it into a tiny knot of suffering. To become free of all suffering and to be fully empowered to free all beings in all times and realms from suffering, we must free ourselves from the kleshas. This leads to profoundly deep meditation and living everyday life with freedom and grace. There's universal power, known by yogis as Shakti, that supports us living in accord with the highest, the Divine within, living dharmically as we go about our everyday lives.
